Everywhere you turn in Srirangam, there is a visual surprise waiting for you. An imposing gopuram. An exquisite sculpture. A colourful painting. An intricate pillar. Here are some we liked.
- This pillar near the Tirumadappalli bears the only reference in the temple to the sthala puranam of Vibheeshana receiving the Vimanam.
- These massive granaries are now in a state of disrepair.
- The 1000-Kaal Mantapam is now used for storage of materials such as this thaer vadam – the rope by which the temple chariot is hauled in procession.
- This lovely sculpture was among those unearthed in recent years along the periphery of the 1000-Kaal Mantapam. It still remains half buried.
- Harmony in stone.
- The imposing Vellai Gopuram
- We attended the Upanyasam by Sri Badri Narayana Bhattar in this house. He is a descendant of the Acharya Sri Parasara Bhattar.
